Ablative Laser Skin Resurfacing

Fractionated carbon dioxide laser resurfacing of the skin targeting skin conditions such as scars (especially acne scars), stretch marks, fine wrinkles, uneven tone, open pores, etc.

How it works:

This ablative laser treatment is used for skin resurfacing. It causes a controlled destruction of the superficial layers of the skin to encourage regeneration of newer, firmer and smoother skin in the deeper layers. The laser beam causes multiple micro punctures of the skin in a grid like pattern, promoting skin ablation and regeneration at those areas as well as collagen synthesis. It is used for management of fine wrinkles (ablative rejuvenation), acne scars, burn scars, post operative scars, open pores, uneven complexion, stretch marks, etc.

Important points:

  1. Sessions are recommended every 3 months.

  2. Number of sessions depends on condition being treated.

  3. Anaesthetic cream should be applied one hour prior to procedure.

  4. Sun protection is recommended throughout the healing time (7-10 days) and in between the sessions.

  5. Multiple crusts are formed and those take about 7-10 days to fall off. Redness and swelling can last for 1-2 days.

  6. Side effects include pigmentary and textural changes, pain, swelling, reactivation of herpes cold sores, acne flare up.
